ESCONDIDO — October 26, 2026. People visiting the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, neighboring schools and nearby businesses should allow extra time for parking. The city says construction in the Woodward Avenue parking lot is taking place in phases for new solar panels and electric-vehicle charging equipment.
What is changing?
Crews began site preparation October 12. Parts of the parking lot may be temporarily closed or restricted as equipment is installed. Signs direct motorists to available spaces, but the number of usable stalls may shift as the project progresses. The city is coordinating the work to reduce disruption to school and after-school programs and cultural events.
Project is not yet finished
Officials expect work at Woodward to finish by late November. The contractor, Climatec, is then expected to begin a separate phase of solar and charging work in the Credit Union parking area at City Hall. A proposed completion date is not evidence that chargers are operating today.
Residents should check signs at the lot before parking and consider alternate legal parking when attending performances or appointments.
